Glufosinate-ammonium is a non-selective contact herbicide with some systemic action. It is a glutamine synthetase inhibitor which can inhibit the activity of glutamine synthase in plants. Due to the blocked synthesis of glutamine, the nitrogen metabolism in plants became chaotic, the synthesis of proteins and nucleotides and other substances reduces, photosynthesis blocks, and chlorophyll synthesis reduces. At the same time, it can make the accumulation of ammonium ions in cells, resulting in the destruction of cell membranes and the disintegration of chloroplasts. Eventually, the whole plant will die.
Glufosinate-ammonium has the characteristics of wide herbicidal spectrum, high activity, low toxicity, rapid degradation in soil, crop safety, small drift, good environmental compatibility and rapid herbicidal effect. It is used for control of a wide range of annual and perennial broad-leaved weeds and grasses in fruit orchards, vineyards, rubber and oil palm plantations, ornamental trees and bushes, non-crop land, and pre-emergence in vegetables. Glufosinate-ammonium also has insecticidal and bactericidal activity, and it can be mixed with insecticide to prevent and control crop diseases and insect pests.
In 2020, the global market size of glufosinate-ammonium reached 1.05 billion US dollars, ranking the second among all herbicides. Note:
1. When performing directional spraying of weed stems and leaves between or under trees, or directional spraying between vegetables rows (row spacing ≥ 75 cm), a protective cover should be installed on the nozzle to avoid spraying or drifting droplets to the green parts of crop plants to avoid phytotoxicity.
2. Dilute the pesticide with clean water. Do not use muddy water.
3. This product should not be stored with iron, and should not be sprayed with an unlined iron sprayer.
4. This product loses its activity immediately on contact with soil and is suitable for stem and leaf treatment.
5. Additional application should be given if it rains within 6 hours after spraying.
